At 640X480 it gets around 40FPS in UT04 (higher, if you aren't playing in Onslaught mode). Not that the 7500 is a completely useless card - it still plays great games like RTCW and Max Payne 1/2. Of course, you really can't blame ATi for not wanting to work on these chips anymore - they've been working on them already for something like five years! Not to mention that the R100/RV200 chips probably aren't making them money anymore, while the R200 and higher are still bringing in some profit. Hence my use of an old Omega set (with a couple registry tweaks to fix some things). In fact, the more recent Catalysts (around 4.5-4.9) have been breaking things such as the cubemaps in UT2004 and 2D in Windows XP (They fixed the 2D in 4.7 though). The guys at Beyond3D would be much more likely to be able to answer that question.Īnd of course ATi doesn't care about the original Radeon chip anymore. I'd play further, but I've got a 9600XT coming whenever Purolator decides to drop by.Īs to why that tweak works I don't know.
It was quite playable, but you could really tell when a door was open and two rooms were being rendered at once. I've only played up to 'when hell breaks loose' and a few minutes after that.
