One of the better launchers is Nova Launcher. So I too do not like to install a lot on mine and I like to keep it clean and running well, I keep it disabled and everythign runs just fine. That way you will effectivly only have ONE launcher running since the other will be disabled. Once you install another launcher and make it default you can go into the apps section and force stop the google one and clear its cache/data and then disable it. On that note, I use another Launcher myself and not google's.
Only option is to keep it or install another launcher. Some Android versions you can remove it depending on the launcher they are using, but this is the actual Google Launcher(or modified Google Launcher) so you can not remove it.
